On the occasion of marking 2022 as the 100th anniversary of the death of Vlaho Bukovac, on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 5 PM, the first thematic lecture was held at the House Bukovac.
Museum pedagogue Maris Stanović took us back to the roots of the Bukovac family, then Fagioni. Through the story of Vlaho’s grandfather Giuseppe Fagioni who settled in Cavtat at the beginning of the 19th century. We learned how family expanded through the years, while the special emphasis was placed on the branch of Vlaho’s father and his descendants. This was also the story that contextualized life in Cavtat during the 19th century.
Before the lecture, the director of the Museums and Galleries of Konavle, Antonia Rusković Radonić introduced the visitors to the planned events in the House Bukovac during 2022 and emphasized that all professional employees of the Museums will participate in creating educational programs on this special anniversary. In addition to the lectures that will be held every Thursday in 2022, numerous workshops for children, programs for adults, thematic guides for locals and foreign visitors, concerts, and various other entertainments will take place in the House Bukovac.
Also, this year the Museums and Galleries of Konavle plan to publish a large monograph on Vlaho Bukovac’s life written by Igor Zidić, the third issue of Vlaho Bukovac’s picture book Growing up 2, and catalogs of exhibitions that are yet to be held.
