On the occasion of marking 2022 as the 100th anniversary of the death of Vlaho Bukovac, on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at 5 PM, curator Helena Puhara held a thematic lecture "House Bukovac - Long history of a family house".
At the lecture, visitors were introduced to the historical development of the cadastral parcel on which the House Bukovac is located, making it an example of a micro-location suitable for presenting changes in the urban image of Cavtat and talking about the rich and heterogeneous history of Cavtat.
Puhara presented several construction projects on the original house owned by Bukovac’s grandfather Giuseppe Fagioni, then his son Augustine and finally, grandson Vlaho Bukovac. The development of today’s space, from the private home to a public museum was also explained.
Today's museological concept of the House Bukovac is based on the intertwining of two basic principles of a specific space: the family house and the museum, which is open to a new interpretation of Bukovac's work and to many researchers willing to explore hidden gems known as Bukovac's life and work.
We remind you of the rich program in the House Bukovac and the lectures that will be held every Thursday at 5 PM.
