On Thursday, July 21, a lecture was held at the House Bukovac on Bukovac’s work in England during the 1890s, where he gained a solid reputation after his success in Paris. Museum pedagogue Maris Stanović spoke about Vlaho Bukovac's long-standing relationship with England, which began with the acquaintance of the Vicars brothers, English art dealers. Since then, Bukovac's paintings will be regularly exhibited in their exhibition and sales hall in London, while Bukovac will often create works commissioned by English art lovers through them. During those years, Bukovac's relationship with two collectors, Samson Fox from Harrogate and Richard Le Doux from West Derby, will be highlighted. Close friendship with his patrons will result in Bukovac's regular visits and stays in England, during which Bukovac will paint numerous portraits of high artistic achievements and become recognized as a painter of the English aristocracy.
