On the occasion of marking 2022 as the 100th anniversary of the death of Vlaho Bukovac, Museums and Galleries of Konavle published a new book Bukovac on postcards by Niko Kapetanić. For the first time, postcards published with Bukovac's paintings can be found in one place, in an impressive collection that testifies to the popularity and availability of Bukovac's works throughout Europe. With his scientific approach and passion for collecting, the author Niko Kapetanić collected all known postcards in one place thus opening a new perspective of viewing Bukovac's work.
The promotion of the book was held on Friday, September 2 at 8:00 PM in the garden of Bogišić’s collection in Cavtat. At the promotion, alongside the author, Ph.D. Josip Belamarić, senior curator of the Museums and Galleries of Konavle Helena Puhara and director of the Museums and Galleries of Konavle Antonia Rusković Radonić talked about the book and Bukovac’s oeuvre.
In his address to the audience, the author referred to the reasons for the creation of this book, but also to the obstacles and benefits that the work on the book brought. The director of the Museums and Galleries of Konavle, in addition to the participants in the promotion, thanked HAZU, Ms. Nella Lonza, and Ivana Lazarević for their cooperation and for giving space for the promotion, the Konavle Tourist Board, and Dubrovnik-Neretva County for financial assistance in printing the book, Hotel Cavtat and Mr. Ivo Šutala for help, and Konavle Communal Society for technical support.
