During his long stay in Cavtat, from 1898 to 1902, Vlaho Bukovac performed several larger compositions for public and church institutions of his homeland. Among them, the decorative painting Double Coronation in Heaven and Earth on the ceiling of the Dubrovnik theatre stands out. He began the preparatory work for this allegorical presentation of poetry and folk poetry in his studio in Cavtat and continued work on the large canvases in the Dubrovnik municipal hall. Finally, in 1901 he glued them to the ceiling of the theatre himself. The composition still adorns the Marin Držić Theatre.
