As a part of national manifestation Museum Night on Friday, 1st of February 2019 Museums and galleries of Konavle offered a rich program. The program started with a quiz for preschool and school children organised in House Bukovac through which children showed their knowledge on Vlaho Bukovac and his work. The quiz was developed and guided by the museum educator Petra Kralj Fox. Afterwards the curator Lucija Vuković lectured on current exhibition Vlaho Bukovac and decorative composition: the ceiling of the theatre in Dubrovnik. In addition to exhibited works and projections of photos of the ceiling details, Lucija Vukovic presented the less known details of Bukovac’s composition with an emphasis on the identification of the portrayed Bukovac’s contemporaries.
In the Department of Archaeology a workshop for children was organised in which they had the opportunity to learn how the railroad was built, where it was passing and what the railway stations looked like. After the short introduction, the children made their own drawings, locomotives and trains that complemented the existing exhibition. The workshop was led by curator Helena Puhara and restorer Sanja Pujo. Considering that this year’s theme of Night of museum was Innovations and digital future, curator Jelena Beželj presented the digital future, past and presence of the Department of Archaeology.
The last was program in the Konavle County Museum. It started with a workshop for children in which they were making a hologram presentation guided by the museum educator Maris Stanović. Supported with their smartphones, children learned to build holograms and were part of the production of museum content. The last part of the program was Festivity of St Blaise. In 2019 we celebrate three anniversaries: 600 years of Dubrovnik administration in Konavle, 40th anniversary of Dubrovnik listed on UNESCO World Heritage List and 10th anniversary of the listing of Festivity of St Blaise on UNESCO Intangible Heritage List. That is way we organised programs dealing with Dubrovnik and Festivity. The Festivity of St Blaise is the only celebration that people from Konavle celebrate outside of their homes. Films from the past festivities were put on display in museum and the director Antonia Rusković Radonić gave expert guidance and comments on films.
Minister of Culture Nina Obuljen Koržinek honoured us with her presence for the Museum Night in the Konavle County Museum.
