Celebration Conference in Dubrovnik organized for 40 years of the Inscription of the Old City of Dubrovnik on the World Heritage List and 10 Years of the Inscription of the Festivity of St Blaise on the Representative List of Intangible Heritage of Humanity was held in the University of Dubrovnik on February 1st 2019. Ceremonial opening was highly honoured with speeches of Mr Plenković, Prime Minister of Republic of Croatia, Ms Obuljen Koržinek, Minister of Culture, Mr Franković, Mayor of Dubrovnik and Mr Dobroslavić, County Perfect of Dubrovnik Neretva County. Special guest on behalf of UNESCO was Mr. Lazare Eloundou, UNESCO director for Culture and Emergencies.
Conference was divided into three sessions, first one about Cultural Heritage in Danger and Post War Reconstruction. Next session was on Sustainable Management of the Old City of Dubrovnik – 40 years later. Conference was concluded with the session on implementing of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Director of Museums and galleries of Konavle Ms Rusković Radonić was one of the speakers throughout sustainability session with her presentation Enhancing Sustainable Management of Dubrovnik through its hinterland: Story of Konavle. She described the relationship between Konavle region and Dubrovnik, presenting the Museums and galleries of Konavle and its programs.
High conference guests spent their afternoon on February the 3rd in Konavle. They were guided by Ms Rusković Radonić and curator Jelena Beželj visiting Sokol castle where Mr Kapetanić, president of the Society of friends of Dubrovnik antiquities gave his speech on restoration of the site. Afterwards they went to Konavle county museum where they saw the presentation about silk production and Konavle embroidery.
