By the year 2019 Konavle Municipality will have a special attraction within the Department of Archaeology in Pridvorje, which will enable visitors to “immerse” into the depths of the sea and visit the underwater archaeological sites.
At the meeting of the representatives of DUNEA (The Regional Development Agency Dubrovnik –Neretva County), the Deputy Mayor of Konavle Ivo Radonić, the Director of Museums and Galleries of Konavle Antonia Rusković Radonić, the Director of the Tourist Board of Konavle Frano Herendija and the owner of the Diving Center Epidaurum Boris Obradović, agreed upon an interesting project BLUEMED in collaboration with Italy, Spain, Cyprus and Greece.
Underwater archaeological sites in Cavtat, Italian sites Baiae and Capo Rizuto, and Underwater Museum in Greece, have agreed to collaborate on a project that will start with capturing the underwater archaeological sites with new technologies, after which they will be exhibited in the Department of Archaeology in St Blaise Franciscan Monastery, Pridvorje. Virtual diving system, 3D visualization, 360 degree video player, 3D monitors and interactive touchscreens will allow all museum visitors to safely navigate the “immersion” into the depths of the sea and interactively explore the rich underwater archaeological site near Cavtat.
