Public panel – BLUEMED

During the European Day of Cooperation in the Konavle Municipality’s building in Cavtat, on 28th of September a public panel on the topic Bluemed ​ - from European cooperation to the local community, was held.

The European Day of Cooperation is organized with the aim of promoting international projects of INTERREG and their activities linking European organizations, regions and the local community. The main goal of the public panel was to present the Project Bluemed ​​– planning, testing and management of underwater museums, diving parks and knowledge promotion centres with the aim of developing sustainable tourism and Blue Growth Promotion in the coastal area and islands of the Mediterranean. The aim to introduce cooperation between Croatian, Spanish, Greek, Italian and Cypriot partners, the significance of the Project for the local community, as well as the cultural heritage that lies within the Adriatic Sea.

More about the Project and its international cooperation, explained the leading partner of the Project Goulas Apostolis, a representative of the Regional Development Agency of the Thessaly region in Greece. Stjepan Rezo from DUNEA (The Regional Development Agency Dubrovnik-Neretva County) presented a part of the project being carried out in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, more specifically in the Municipality of Konavle, while the underwater archaeological sites were presented by Dr Domagoj Perkić from the Dubrovnik Archaeological Museum. Lastly, Jelena Beželj curator of Museums and galleries of Konavle presented Project’s importance for the local community and interpretation in the Department of Archaeology.

Museums and galleries of Konavle consist of the:

Konavle County Museum, House Bukovac, Department of Archaeology and Račić Mausoleum.
