On Tuesday, 1 October 2019, the students of the 5^th and the 6^th grade of the Primary School “Gruda” visited the Konavle County Museum, where they learned about the customary practices for a Konavle wedding in the 19^th and the 20^th century. The museum educator guided the primary school students through the exhibition Konavle Wedding, which provided them with the opportunity to see various headdresses and other items of clothing, including several rare pieces, which may be the only opportunity they may have to see a hondelj (traditional headdress) worn by unmarried women and a dolama, an old wedding coat. Apart from the items of clothing, the students learnt about the role of the wedding participants and the important role that the community had in the Konavle wedding. This is how the students found out about the customary practices of their ancestors, which is the foundation for knowing, and therefore preserving their own tradition.
