On Saturday February 29th 2020, in Konavle County Museum the Director of the Museums and Galleries of Konavle Antonia Rusković Radonić presented the web platform for the Erasmus+ project PROEUVERB - Proverbs Presentation and Reflections, Similarities and Differences across EU countries.
This is the project that started in September 2018 in which Museums and Galleries of Konavle participated as a coordinator. Other than being coordinators, Museums and Galleries of Konavle are the only museum in Croatia participating in an Erasmus+ program. Other than Croatia in the project were involved partners from Finland (Adult Education Centre of Järvilakeus) and Portugal (EPRALIMA - Escola profissional do Alto Lima).
The idea of the project was to compare the values of the intangible heritage in different parts of Europe, i.e. through three European countries. The experience of participating in the project, the mobility program as well as the cooperation between the partners were briefly presented. At the transnational meetings, the participants exchanged experiences and ideas regarding the collection of the proverbs, and were able to get acquainted with the way partners work in other parts of Europe.
For the Museums and Galleries of Konavle, proverbs were collected and processed by Petra Dominik. After the collection, each partner had to translate the proverbs into English and then interpret the meaning of each proverb to the other partner. Then, the differences and similarities of proverbs among the different geographical and cultural areas were compared with the respect to the meaning and values that proverbs represented.
As a result of the project, a web platform has been created. The platform is available in four languages, thus giving it a great visibility among future users. The proverbs are divided thematically into 5 categories: seasonal, men and women, behaviour, agriculture and health. In addition to the proverbs, a Multimedia browser has been installed, featuring various videos on the topic of proverbs in order to better contextualise the complexity of proverbs.
The web platform was created by Link2 Company from Zagreb and the visual identity is signed by Nora Mojaš, a designer from Dubrovnik.
