Museums and Galleries of Konavle present their first Journal of scientific articles. The main topic of this, the first issue is 600 years of Dubrovnik’s administration in Konavle. The Dubrovnik Republic bought Konavle in two periods, from 1419 to 1426 after which it shaped the area of Konavle within its cultural habitat. Even after the fall of the Republic, Konavle remained under the auspices of the wider Dubrovnik administration until today. On the very border with the Ottoman Empire, the Konavle region preserved its archaic forms, and at the same time submitted to the cultural context of the Dubrovnik Republic. All this has resulted in the rise of numerous heritage phenomena, which today require processing and further questioning. With this intention, Museums and Galleries of Konavle invited the professional and scientific public to contribute their professional work to expand the existing knowledge and open new questions. Ivo Banac and Nella Lonza contextualized the circumstances and legal form of the Dubrovnik acquisition of Konavle. Jelena Beželj, Lucija Ljubić, Domagoj Kristović, Matko Vetma and Niko Kapetanić wrote about some of the sites related to the period of the Dubrovnik Republic. Vinicije Lupis and Radoslav Tomić presented their valuable articles on the movable artistic heritage. Antonia Rusković Radonić made a short contribution on the subject of Konavle clothing during the Dubrovnik Republic, and Petra Brailo and Marko Vodopija revised the epigraphic monuments in the Franciscan monastery in Pridvorje and made a linguistic analysis of the inscriptions. Thanks to Niko Kapetanić and his scientific work, through this journal, the history of the population of Konavle was supplemented for the missing data from the very beginning of the 19th century. The reviewers of the articles in the journal were Joško Belamarić, Stjepan Ćosić, Miroslav Katić, Tanja Kocković Zaborski, and Josip Lisac, while the editors were Jelena Beželj, Petra Brailo, and Antonia Rusković Radonić. The journal is available in the museum units of the Museum and Galleries of Konavle for 100,00 HRK.
