We invite you to the Bukovac House for an exhibition opening: Bukovac from the dark chamber on Saturday, October 23 at 7 pm.
The exhibition will present a part of the Collection of Photographs of the Bukovac House, which has more than 700 items. From the very beginning, Vlaho Bukovac used photography as an auxiliary technical tool in his work, but also as a source of inexhaustible inspiration. Our primary intention is to present the significance of photography in the formation of Bukovac’s early oeuvre, as well as its semiological role in the presentation of the young painter.
The photographs kept in the Bukovac House are of various provenances, from domestic, Dalmatian, and Zagreb photography studios to European and American ones. They have a distinct value, both documentary and artistic, while some of them are of high artistic and technical achievements. Those ones are of inestimable importance and unavoidable for a broader view of Bukovac’s opus.
We are looking forward to your arrival!
