In the Konavle Kindergarten is always lively, but these days the Katićan Kindergarten from Čilipi is especially busy. Weaving is underway! In other words, on the small weaving frames, small weaves full of love for heritage are created. Little hands weave threads, weave cloths, and have fun creating solid cloths to celebrate their togetherness and creativity. In addition to learning the art in the best possible way and raising awareness of how textiles are made, they use each cloth to help the museum raise funds to buy the painting Konavle Weavers. Thus already becoming the patrons, benefactors, and custodians of Konavle’s heritage.
Educators of the Kindergartens Konavle, Srebrice group; Nike Sukno, Luca Đurišić, and Lucijana Potrebica organized a real small weaving workshop in Katićan thus gathering the children around the ancient art that still produces all of our textiles. This mini-project added value to value, while play, learning, tradition, and the future intertwined on simple weaving frames worked on by children’s hands.
After the completion of the Weavers for Weavers project, weaves that children made will be exhibited to the public, while the interested public will be able to buy the products with the aim of raising funds for the purchase of a painting by Vlaho Bukovac called Konavle Weavers. And soon, when the painting returns to the museum, they will be able to visit it there and talk to their children and grandchildren, sometime in the future, with pride that they helped buy it.
