With the exhibition On the remains of old Epidaurum opened at the Department of Archaeology on December 20, 2021, Museums and Galleries of Konavle contributed to the knowledge of ancient Epidaurum as an important trade and port center of the Roman Empire period. Throughout history, Epidaurum is mentioned by many writers, it had a 24 km long aqueduct, but today, visible traces of the city are almost non-existent. During the last 50 years, some archaeological excavations have been executed but it is still not enough to present this important, ancient Mediterranean port city.
That is why the Museums and Galleries of Konavle, in addition to the already mentioned exhibition, have made a digital-online map available to all, which depicts the hitherto defined parts of the ancient city with accompanying information about all sites. Next to the site is the exact location of the same, accompanying photo documentation and literature in which you can read in more detail about the site itself. The current map is only part of what we hope will be supplemented in the near future by new archaeological research, fueled by awareness of the richness of the heritage of the Konavle region, in this case, our Cavtat.
